No change to the starting XI for Reading from the team that overcame Sheffield United (in dramatic circumstances...!) in round three.
Less than 10 minutes until kick-off at Motspur Park. it's a chilly night but there's a good turnout of fans of both clubs at the ground. Come on #URZ!
Fulham kick off at Motspur Park and immediately set off on an attack. Akinwunmi smashes clear to relieve pressure.
GOAL - Fulham (Thorsteinsson 3')
The hosts take an early lead and it's a well-worked goal... a neat passing build-up, and the ball is placed into the top corner by Thorsteinsson. The Cottagers have the advantage.
PENALTY (Fulham 8')
Fulham have a spot kick - Andresson knocks down Adeniran in the box and the ref points to the spot...
The spot-kick is kept out by Southwood! Great reflexes by the stopper - he guessed the right way and got two good hands to Adeniran's penalty. It remains 1-0.
Fulham are the team on top at the moment. Humphrys smashes from 25 yards and it's not far past the post for the hosts.
Frustration for striker Sam Smith as the ref blows for a foul in Reading's favour, but when it looks like an advantage was developing.
Reading enjoying their best spell. A nice string of passes and Bennett feeds overlapping full-back Akinwunmi in the channel... but the cross is blocked and Fulham come away with the ball.
Danger averted for Reading - Fulham right-back Marlon Fossey sent over a cross which Akinwunmi cleared, and Humphrys makes a firm volley from the edge of the area. It sails wide.
Thorsteinsson causing more problems for Reading. First he fires wide from a tight angle - then he has another foray and sees Osho make a block. He receives back again as the ball breaks his way, skips past a tackle, and Richards has to make a sliding tackle to stop the shot. Well-timed.
YELLOW - Ryan East (Reading) 32'
The midfielder just dwells on the ball a second too long and makes a mistimed tackle as he tries to prevent his Fulham counterpart from stealing in. Catches an ankle and gets his name taken.
It's a icy night in West London, as Adeniran will testify. He took the full force of Josh Barrett's shot, as he made the block, and it looks like it stung...
YELLOW - Jerome Okupu (Fulham) 36'
Nice interchange between East and Barrett, before Opuku lunges clumsily into East. The midfielder bounces up, luckily - looked like it could have been a nasty one.
That foul meant for a good shooting chance for the Royals - Josh Barrett stepped up and struck with power, but the wall stood strong.
Super defending from Osho. It looked like Humphrys was going to race through, but the defender forced the striker wide and then blocked the effort.
End to end stuff here - remarkable. First, a low cross from the right is met at the far post by Sam Smith but home stopper Ashby-Hammond somehow keeps it out... at the other end, Southwood shows alertness to come well off his line and mop up, and moments later saved another effort down by the base of his post.
This time it's left-back Ryan Sessegnon that comes forward for the Cottagers - his low cross can't be turned in at the near post.
A chance late in the first half for Reading. A low delivery by Frost is hacked away Fossey - that allows Bennett to cushion into Barrett's path, but he curls over the crossbar from the edge of the area.
HALF-TIME: Fulham U18 1-0 Reading U18
Fulham have had more of the ball but Reading have had chances... Thorsteinsson's goal is the difference at the break though.
Supporters and staff taking the opportunity to grab a hot drink at Motspur Park on an ice-cold evening.
We're back underway after the break.
